About the Event

This is a 3 hour workshop with a lady called Darlas, of which she has been passionate about all her life.

Darlas has been working as a professional artist, teaching and selling her work for 25 years. She loves to travel and her inspiration comes from the variations of colour and light, with her goal being to try to capture the atmosphere with her brush.

In this 3 hour session, she would love to share with you the magic that is watercolour! It is such a beautiful and creative medium like no other. She says, you will be amazed at how quickly you can develop your skill with her guided tuition. exploring many subjects and effects to enable you to create wonderful paintings. Painting in watercolour will reveal the creativity in you that you may not even know exists, so even a grey day can be transformed into a painting filled with subtle and beautiful colours and tones. This course is suitable for all abilities, including absolute beginners!

Join us for an exciting journey and hot drinks and cake plus all materials will also be included!

What you will learn

i)  Which materials to use

You don’t need a lot of materials but what you choose will determine your success.

i)  Design

How to plan the composition if your painting. What to put in and what to leave out.

iii) How to mix your colours

How much water and how much pigment for different applications to achieve tonality and create form.

iv) Watercolour Techniques

Including large washes, painting shape, colour pushing and pulling as well as colour layering.

v) Colour Theory

How colour operates in the picture plane. The colour wheel and how it works.

vi) The properties of watercolour

What it can and can’t do. Each colour operates differently. We will be looking at how they operate in the palette and on the paper.
